I Have a couple of covicts that seem to have paired off.I watched as
she plastered a dark rock cave with eggs, then after a few days watched
her move hundreds of tiny new borns to a ditch that the male had
hollowed out.I noticed that the male does his fair share of cleaning
up ,and the female seems to like him around. This is my question when
the lights are on the female is very happy with everything but when I
turn the lights off she seems to be very aggressive towards the
male. For instance when he picks something up she chasses him and rubs
her body up against his ,or she keeps her self between the male and
the fry?then when lights are back on all is great just mom and dad
working together cleaning ,taken turns gaurding the pit . Is this
normal or does the female not trust the male when lights are out.

sounds exactly like what my pair are doing right now. As far as parents goes
the Convicts are probably the best example of caring for their fry. Stick
you hand in the tank and they will bite you. Great to watch, now to try and
get rid of something frew people want.
