What kind adds the most oxygen... between bubble walls, air stones, discs,
etc.?

Also with the stones, is it safe to put them underneath the substrate?

And how many of whichever kind is best would I need for a 29 gallon tank with 2
fish? Thanks!;)

For all intents and purposes, none of your options adds measurable oxygen to
the water. Their prime purpose is to circulate water so that carbon dioxide
can be exchanged at the moving surface for oxygen.
If your filtration is adequately sized and properly maintained, you may have
no real need for airstone type products other than perhaps decorative?? If
you do go with whichever (your choice), they can be buried just below the
substrate surface.

Really? So, if I had a CO2 gizmo... I wouldn't want a bubblewall
'exchanging' the CO2?

That's actually something I don't really get (with my only my highschool
knowledge of chemistry) How do you 'diffuse' or mix a gass with a liquid?

Cause the way I see it: CO2 + H2O = H2O + ...
Oh wait... I see the need to do some Chem. revision... I think what
you're saying does make sense...

Damn. I should've paied more attention in class. ;)

Airstones add O2. The smaller the bubble, the greater the exchange. Rena has a
wonderful unit.
The science has been worked out and is available in charts for large
applications. A visit to aquatic eco systems web site may have tech notes you
can adapt to a small scale.

airstones most certainly do add oxygen to the water, and the secondary purpose of
good aeration is to move all kinds of gases out of the water, including toxic ones.
Fine bubble aeration also throws the bubbles up into the air, which vastly increases
the surface to volume transfer. GF have a need for excellent aeration, especially
the large bodied, long finned ones. Ingrid

If you have a CO2 gizmo you shouldnt have goldfish in that tank.
CO2 + H2O <=> H2CO3 <=> H+, HCO3- a weak acid
