Nipping fish

I have two ryunkins in a 20 gallon tank. The tank is cycled. One goldfish
has been nipping at the others tail now for a few days, and the nippee has
almost no tail left. They are small goldfish and just seem to always swim
near one another and then nip the other. I am having bad luck with having a
second goldfish. One fancy long tail got sucked up by the aqua 200 filter
and died. The other was probably ill from the store and it died. Now the
one that keeps surviving has an attitude like he can't be bothered with
other fish. I really want to keep two fish, but I might have to keep only
one to make sure it is happy. I need a book on fish psychology. :p

How about partitioning your tank to keep them away from each for a while?
I'd also add some melafix to help the injured tail to heal.
