I have an outdoor pond of 100 gallons (10 years now) and my goldfish have
gotten big over those years. They live there winter and summer. (Bad winter,
however, and I lost them all - just new small fish now) I now want to have a
bigger pond with bigger fish. Koi seem tempermental but I do want big fish to
look at, so, how big can the goldfish grow to be? Thanks for your help - I
appreciate any input.

Lillie,

Long bodied Goldfish like Comets, Common Goldfish, Wakins, sometimes Jikins,
Shubunkins, Bristol Shubunkins can get to about 11 inches long. Ornamental
Goldfish like Orandas, Demekins, Veils, Ranchus can get up to 6 inches in
ponds. You will probably hear of ornamentals that are 8 inches, but these
are exception not the rule for most hobbyists.

Most hobbyist with ponds have fish that are in the 6 to 8 inch range. A lot
depends on your water chemistry and your animal husbandry.
