This product seems to work miracles - in planted tanks. Any
thoughts?

Sure, if it's not a plant nutrient, will it grow your plants better?
Why do you have algae? ==>> poor plant growth.
Rather than focusing on algae, you would be much better off focusing
on plant health and growth. Algone does not grow plants near as I can
tell so why spend your $ on it vs pruning, routine mainteance and
nutrients? I've been down the algae killer path several times and
spent close to 200$ on them over the years, so have other friends of
mine.
All algae miracle cures and snake oils are hit or miss at best. "Well
maybe they work" is the rational the buyer thinks. I can put plant
nutrients in a bottle and claim it'll cure algae issues. I be correct
also in my claim and it would work in some cases.
But I know of not a single good plant grower/aquascaper that uses
these algae cures.
Why?
They don't need to. They are not needed to deal with any algae issue.
So why use them?
Your issue is not a lack of Algone. That I can assure you.
Send me 20$ instead. I'll help fix the issue for the long term and
improve the health of the tank as well. Algae killers don't do that.
You will get much further and enjoy a great deal more success with
plants by focusing on light, CO2, NO3, K+, GH, PO4, traces. It's not
particularly difficult to achieve and these cost little AND GROW
PLANTS.
I have not heard of any specific successes that can be definitively
attributed to this product or any other I have tried.
These products in general distract new and intermediate plant growers
from the real issue, ___plant growth___, so I am critical on the issue
and I've wasted a lot of time and money on these over the years as
have many people rather than focusing on the plants.
