I've heard Tom Barr mentioned a few times before. Is there a website
outlining his "Fertilizing Techniques". I won't be able to attend the chat,
but I was curious to read up on it.

Thanks,
Harry

Sorry you can't make tonight's chat.

We will be archiving it for those that can't make it. Check our site
in a week or so for it.

If Tom was in my field (geology) he'd be what laughingly call one of the
kids. My youngest is his age. He's been working with planted tanks since
he was in knee pants. He's tried most everything and documented the
results. Phosphate, Nitrate, you name it and he's tried it. Then gone on
the work on the business at the university. His way may not be the only way
but it works and he has hard science to back it.

Search APD .... you'll need a long time and hip boots to wade through the
raft of stuff, but you'll get the gist of his ideas. For a young guy
studying for his Ph.D., he is long on hard facts and doesn't push theory he
hasn't tried out.

he has a interesting view of cycling a tank .... sort of ... why bother
when filling it with plants will take out the ammonia and remove the need to
worry about nitrites and nitrate .. A heavily planed tank that isn't
totally overloaded with fish ( like my wife's guppy/platy tank) needs added
NPK.
