View Full Version : Anchor worm

I just got three fantails from the pet store ( a week ago ) and failed to
recognize the anchor worm hanging off of one of them. Now they all have
anchor worm. Websites I've seen recommend picking off the worms
individually from the fish and then treating each spot with neosporin, but
these websites seem devoted to koi, which are a lot larger than my
fantails. Is there a less stressful method of treatment? (Although, I
guess, from the fish perspective, having worms hanging off of you can't be
that fun either).

get a product called "anchors away" .. it really, really works and is very safe for
the fish. dont overdose with it of course. yes. pull them off, dab with neosporin.
but do use the anchors away to kill the eggs. be sure to look under the anal fins,
lernea seems to prefer hiding out there. Ingrid
