Hi all-
I'm a beginning GF keeper with a single 2-3" calico fantail in a 10-gallon
tank. I've only had him about 3 weeks or so, and 3 days ago I noticed some
ick on his fins. I put in 2 tablespoons of aquarium salt at that time. Ick
was still visible 24 hours later, so I put in an "Ick Clear" tablet made by
Jungle on the second day. Yesterday the ick was still visible and today as
well, so I'm beginning to get concerned. How long should I give it to clear
up?

quick cure, 3 doses, one every other day. change water on day they dont get dose.
It is a temperature thing. higher temp 78-80oF, faster they get rid of ich. but dont
mix high salt, quick cure and higher temp.

as Ingrid suggested, raise the temp, this speeds up the lifecycle.
Even if the ick looks like it has been cleared up, keep
treating for an extra week after the spots clear up.

Make sure you remove any filters containing carbon during this time.
Otherwise the carbon will remove all the medication from the water and the
ick will remain.
