mixing tetras

I have a 10 gal. tank set up, cycled etc., and put in 3 serpae tetras, 3 red
eye tetra, 2 albino cories. Question is I read somewhere ??? that one
should not put several different kinds of tetras together. I was going to
add some cardinals and now I wonder. All imput would be appreciated.

I have had a tank of mixed tetras for three years. They seem quite happy
together.

I have a tank with a pair of lemons and a pair of serpae .... seem to
get on fine ... although I do notice that the serpae prefer to hang out
with each other ... as long as they aren't stressed ... they don't
bother anyone else ....
