I read that floating poop is not a good thing. Why? I have 3 gf. They are
growing fast and appear healthy. When they poop they seem to take a long
time in doing so and it sometimes looks like a string of sausages. Sometimes
it floats, other times, not. A pretty horrible subject, I know, but I really
want the best for my little friends. They get fed twice a day, once with
granules, once with flakes. I also feed them with live daphinia once a week
as a treat. I do a 25% water change every 7-10 days.
Any help would be appreciated.Thans.

Jacqui,

Are you soaking the food first (in tank water)?
I soak all food in a little container with tank water, this ensures
the food is soft and has less air - this is typically why poop
will float.

Long strands can suggest over feeding (and underfeeding).
If it is long and thick, you are over feeding. If it is long
and thin, you are underfeeding. Poop should typically come out
in smaller strands (1cm for example, not 5-6 cm).
