I have an Aquaclear 300 packed with filter floss (mechanical filtration)
and bag of Ehfisubstrat (cycled), bag of Black Diamond carbon. One
medium goldfish in a bare bottom glass 20 gal tank.
I want to change my biomedia to just a sponge, because I think my fish
is having trouble with the Ehfisubstrat (made of sintered glass). I
think something is coming off it though I can't see anything, so I want
to change to a sponge or some other biomedia that's made of plastic. Are
those bio miniballs practical for an Aquaclear 300?
My question is how do I make the switch from Ehfisubstrat to sponge
without stressing out my fish? Should I just add the sponge and continue
to use the bag of Ehfi until the sponge is cycled itself? Or should I
take out some of the Ehhfisubstrat?
