I have a juwel filter that came with my Rio 240litre tank.
Looking at it running, it doesn't seem to be very powerful.
Can anyone suggest a decent filter (I am not looking at UGF).
I thnk Mel suggested one, but can't find the details.

I think you can buy more powerful Juwel powerheads to replace your existing
one but they are about £60 which i thought was a rip off! . I got myself a
Fluval +4 and am more than pleased with it. I run it alongside the Juwel
system and my water is crystal clear now. Also with having two, it wouldn't
be the end of the world if one was to break down. They sell them in most
shops but I got mine from this website and the prices seem to be much much
cheaper than anywhere else.
http://www.aquatics-online.co.uk/. You can also pick them up on ebay
sometimes fairly cheaply.

Mel, my point is that the filter that came with my 10 gallon seems to
be more powerful at sucking the water in than my 63 gallon - bizarre!

Mel how does the Fluval +4 fit, does it attach to the side of the
tank or outside?

To the inside. If you're worried about space perhaps you could get an
external filter. Eheim ones are supposed to be good.

Space ain't a problem - I have a 63 gallon(or there abouts).
Does it connect (or suck) onto anything to stop it moving too much
or does it stand ok?

It has a little base that sticks to the glass with suckers and the actual
filter body slots onto it. It just slides off when you want to take it out
for maintenance etc.
