Ich again

Hi,
with the drop in temperatures, ich has struck. Cher had a couple of spots on
her tail. I have treated with Rid-Ich with a 35% water change every other
day. Now, her tail is better, but Morticia has one on HER tail! Just now I
gave the 4th treatment.
I have no way of raising the tank temp- it's running about 64 F. How many
days can I treat with this stuff? (I am giving it every other day) The
bottle just says "treat til gone" (the ich, that is- I think!)

Dark Phoenix, treat for at least a week after the ich "Appears" to have
gone!

Can you not raise the temperature in your house/room, the tank will
eventually catch up to room temp then.

The problem is that the tank is not in the house we are living it (they are
in my mom's house- empty right now) and keeping the woodstove running is a
pain (running back and forth to do so, and not being able to run it wide
open when I'm not there) Right now, we've got really strong, fast winds
going and it's really hard to keep a place warm. Hopefully they'll die down
soon and it'll warm up a bit again..... (The tank temp is actually higher
than the room temp right now, thanks to it's lights. )

Thanks, I was getting worried that it might be hard on the fish to keep the
chemicals in there too long.

Then what could it be? The spots are like salt grains, 3-D. When this
occured early in summer, when temps started fluctuating, I was told it was
ich. That time, I treated with salt and cured it, but I figured with the
lower temps the chemicals might be better.

Ingrid, whilst I normally agree, my fish had ich and it was not all
over, maybe I caught the "visual" signs early, i dunno, but treating
for ich did cure them, so I am inclined to believe it was actually ich.

Treat for ich and get a heater! I believe it is ich as my fish got
it a while back and they did not have spots all over! I treated for
ich and they recovered and have not been ill since!

I've had the same. A couple of new fish got ich a few months back and they
just had a few spots on their tail fins. They don't just get pickled in
spots instantly, they develop over time.
