Is it common/natural for fancy and non-fancy GF to love "playing" in the
bubbles from an airstone. btw they are not gasping for oxygen (before any
questions are asked)

Yes mine some times do that just for a bit of a laugh!

Mine found their new Fluval 4+, which throws out water bubbles.
They love it. They also used to love their airstone and play in that.
