Hi all,
My goldfish is sitting at the bottom of my tank. he gets up and moves and
then goes back down again! I put in a power head yesterday and since then he
has been like that! my undergravel filter had broken down about a month ago
because of the air pump could that have any connection with it (poo getting
sucked up the tube?)
Of course I don't want him to die he has been with us for a good 4 years!
Thanks Mat

Mat,
Check your ammonia, nitrite and nitrate levels. Also check PH and temp.
Also get an airstone if your powerhead does not shoot out air bubbles.

it might be to late I think when I started off the new filter lots of poo
was scattered into the aquarium and it has caused a swimmbladder problem I
treated the tank before I went to school (with swimmbladder) but I was to
late. thank you for the help though!

pooh shouldn't cause swimbladder. My fish create lots of pooh too.
Do you soak your food before feeding. Air trapped in food can eventually
cause swim bladder probs. Did your fish pass away?

when you stirred up the gravel it released anaerobic toxins and that poisoned the
fish. next time, dont use gravel. sorry about the fish. INgrid
