30% every year!!! YIKES!

[Geezer From The Freezer]

Theres a guys on freshwater.misc who claims his fish live happily
and stress free with him doing 30% water changes every YEAR
(with evaporation top ups) - YIKES!! He says he disagrees with
me 110% for suggesting goldies need water changed every week.

Any thoughts?

Does he have plants in the tank? They help a lot with long term
stability. (See work by Walstad)

What happens when he adds fish? Goldies are pretty hardy and will adapt
to many conditions, however, the sudden change from "normal" conditions
to... um... er... "not normal" may stress/kill newer fish.
