Sean these sound like Planaria, and are not uncommon. They can be brought
in from plants, food, even fish or other aquatic life.

The only way I know to get rid of them is to wipe the glass and do
some frequent water changes. Raising the temperature really high
(100+degrees) is also supposed to work - but won't be good for your
lobster.

It sounds like something I had an infestation of not long ago. I added salt
to the water, and the wee things went nuts all of a sudden. Salt will kill
them, or keep them in check. I also did a complete strip-down and cleaned
everything in salt water and then rinsed in boiled water, straight from the
kettle. In my case, I had only one fish in the tank, and it died right
after I discovered the worms. I believe they are harmless normally unless
in huge numbers, which mine were. Just the thought of them makes me cringe
still... oh, and that fish was sick at the time, so I am not positive
the worms killed it. It was new and not well when I brought it home.

planaria are not deadly. They can irritate fish but not kill them
as far as I have researched.
