Formaldehyde

A new fish shop that has opened near me sells lots of different medications
that I haven't seen available here in the UK before. I bought a bottle of
Formaldehyde(30%) today but the instructions on it aren't too clear and I'm
not sure how it should be used. As mentioned in a previous post I have a
goldfish with unidentified white things under it's gills and I was wondering
whether I can use the formaldehyde to treat it. The man in the shop reckoned
it would work well but their advise isn't always right so I thought I'd
better double check as it's fairly potent stuff. If so, then do I treat my
whole tank with it or dip the fish in a solution of it? How much should I
use per gallon?
