I have 17 fry - would they be ok in a 10 gallon tank with a
filter and air stone? Or best to leave them in a large tub?
Wondering if they'd be able to find food?

These are very very young fry - like between 1 and 3 days old!!

Remember not to fill the tank with more than 6 inches of water.

They don't really need the filter while they are so tiny, as long as you do
lots of water changes. Remember when you do turn the filter on, that they
could get sucked in. I used a small sponge filter for mine attached to a
pump. I also used a gang valve so that I could turn the flow right down low,
and covered the entire thing with a piece cut from a pair of ladies tights
then attached that with an elastic band round the top to stop anyone getting
sucked in accidently.

They are very delicate at this age, if you move them be very careful.
I like sponge filters for raising fry, if it is established it will
have things that the fish can eat. they seem to find food without
much trouble.
