View Full Version : Feeding dishes for fish?

I seem to recall reading about someone here that was lowering a dish
into the tank, and putting the food in there, so it was easier to tell
when the fish were done, etc.

Could someone fill me in on the details of that?

I use feeding dishes in my tanks and if you have gravel it really does help
to keep it clean. I use terracotta plant pot bases and leave them at the
bottom of my tank. I then use a piece of rigid tubing at dinner time and
place it over the bowl, then pour my sinking pellets down the tubing so they
land in the bowl. (You have to feed sinking food for it to work - I've tried
soaking flakes then pouring them in but they refused to stay in the
bowl!)The fish then come over at their leisure and grab a mouthful. It works
really well and they all seem to take in turns. I do have one greedy fish
though who has taken residence in the bowl and hardly ever leaves it in the
hope I'll give in to his begging!

Mel, can I ask where you get your sinking pellets in the UK? Is there a
particular brand I could look out for?
