View Full Version : Cleaning goldfish bowl...

I have a single goldfish that I keep in a approimate 1 gallon bowl. (I know
it is to small, but that is the best I can do for right now?) I change the
water every 3 or 4 days. Today after I emptied the bowl there was like a
scum around where the water line was. I tried to remove it the best I could
with a clean paper towel, and re-filled the bowl. Is there a way to get this
cleaner? I know that I am not supposed to use cleaners.

Any help greatly appreciated
Bob

IMO,
I would take the fish back to the store if a one gallon bowl is all you can
provide for it.

That mark is due to poor filtration can u perhaps manage a small pump and 1
air stone

The other way to clean it is with warmish to boiling water I purchased what
they call
a dish mop

Looks like a small mop for doing dishes simply wash that in boiling water
before use keep
it only for fish and use this plus warmish to hot water to clean it

Let me know how you go good luck Vikki

be very careful using anything for home use in aquariums. an aquarium sponge is
better. a couple years ago scotch suddenly started adding antibacterial compound
into their "scratchy" that fish people had been using and people lost all their fish
from it before realizing the "dont use in aquarium" was on the back in tiny, tiny
print. Ingrid

Try changing 25 % of the water daily and add an airstone and pump
