brown spots in tank.

there are brown spots in my tank. what causes them and how do i get rid of
them?

Brown "algae" is diatoms. They feed off of the nutrients in the water. Typically
Silicates and Silicic acid help them start off I believe - this is found in
some sands (and in tap water).
