My friend has gold fish like me and his black moor appear to have the cotton
wool
fungus I researched the web since he doesn't have internet

He has asked me to find out how long they can survive until he can get to by
the treatment
for them

See he thinks perhaps it was a few days before he noticed this fungus
appearing and being so
visual

He went right to the aquarium to get the treatment for it the next day as he
saw the illness at 8 PM
was this to long all this only happened in this last week

I mean the time between really noticing the illness and going to get the
treatments he asked me if
I knew whether this would have made things worse for the fish

Of the many web sites I searched this was the one thing I couldn't find out
? reply soon Vikki

Vikki,

Of course the fact that he hadn't noticed it will make it worse than if he
noticed
it earlier.

Tell your friend to quarantine the fish (if he/she is with other fish). Keep
water
quality as clean and best as possible. Get some potassium permanganate or
anti-fungus
ASAP. Until then - good water quality!

Maybe try a 0.3% salt level - especially before any medication.

fungus does not usually infect a GF under the end. it is probably columnaris which
is a bacteria. see treatment for columnaris in
