Hi
Just a quick question
Is there any other fish I can have together with my 2 black moors? I would
like some small fish like Neon Tetras or something. So is there any fish
that I can have in the same aquarium, and how much "space" (like G) do they
need?
Thanks
Peter

nope, goldfish excrete too much ammonia for any tropical fish to handle.
plus small fish like neons will be probably be swallowed by the moors. the
moors themselves need 10 gallons each but the neons are like 1inch of fish
per gallon. also goldfish like hard water, neons do better in soft acidic
water. and goldfish need temps to be a bit cooler then what neons need.
and then the neons need a different type of food then what the goldfish
need.
why not get like a 5 gallon and have a little school of neons with some
little live plants and maybe a couple of cory cats? that would be a nice
setup.

Actually Black Moor fish (and other fancy GF) prefer temperatures to be around
the 76-78degree mark rather than "cool" water. But the rest I'l l agree with.

Thanks for the answer. I have a 5G tank that I don't use for anything. How
many neons can I have in it, and how about temperature. I have plants,
filter and gravel, but is gravel good with neons? Anything else I need?
Thanks

One thing that you guys didnt mention that I wanted to share my experience
with. GF are playful and also can be agressive towards other fish. I once
placed a very large plecostamus in with my comet and moor, they really beat
the ugly fish up, I had to remove it.
Just OT, the moor didnt make it, just too much ammonia for a 10 G tank and
two small GF. Oh yea, I played chemist and always keep the tank perfectly
clean and balanced. Just as the fish got bigger, one out-pooped the other I
guess. Comets are nasty as far as ammonia and poop. Especially if you feed
them they way that THEY want to be fed. :-)
My comet is about 11" now and 5 yrs old. I keep him on a "diet" so as to not
over feed him (man I thought only dogs mastered the sorry face begging
technique, lol) and test his ph and ammonia at least 2x a month or more.
he outgrew the small gravel which was replaced with smooth rocks and large
decoratives, which he tosses around the tank like flipper tossing a shark.

TO help neons school, I would put them in a bigger tank, with a larger,
slightly aggresive fish. Otherwise they will scatter. Which is fine too,and
less stressful

Interesting,
I thought Pleco's were problematic to sucking on Goldfish,
not the other way around. I had an opportunity to buy a nice
Pleco but passed on it. Am I overreacting to bad PR on Pleco's?

Kodiak,
No your not reacting to bad press about Plecos. Sometimes you won't see any
activity for long periods of time and then all of a sudden you see red
sucker marks on your Goldies.
Goldfish and Plecs are not good together.
