My chocolate oranda seems to be developing yet another boil in the same
place. I can see the scales beginning to lift again.

What product should I add to the water? I've been told that the stuff I
added to the water last time was Anti Internal Bacteria No 9 from
Interpet. Mel suggested Interpets anti fungus and fin rot.

Because I've only used one dose of the anti internal bacteria, should I
now try using anti fungus & fin rot?

I need to stop this quickly now...

I can't remember what the other symptoms were now (can't remember what day
it is half the time! lol). Could you remind me? I'd have recommended the
anti fungus and finrot if I thought it was columnaris? Mel.

this is an internal infection, you need to feed antibiotic food probably for a month
and a couple injections with Baytril if you can get it. Treating from outside will
only work if you get antibiotics absorbed across the skin, like oxolinic acid (3 days
only). I think kanamycin may also be absorbed across the skin. Ingrid

As far as we know it is columnaris, but just added the no9 and within
about 1 minute, fish was lying in a corner, upside down at the bottom.
Fortunately, even though I was just off to work, I noticed & immediately
filled up my water change bucket, boiling kettle in the cold, cold
norwich water, bit of declor and a airpump and *wack* in went the fish.

She's swimming around normally, so I deduce that it was definitely the
no9. I used the right concentration & had properly dissolved it in far
more than a pint of water and it was spread evenly over the tank. I
shall probably not try that again!

Off to work (late) I go...

When you say you used No9 do you mean Interpet no 9 anti internal bacteria?
If so then this doesn't treat colomnaris. The no 8 anti fungus and finrot
does.
Mel.

Well, I went home over xmas. I did a water change just before I left,
knowing that my girlfriend would be in the next day to do the water
change. Unfortunately, when I just arrived home I got a message that
her father had been taken into hospital with a split stomach (just had
an operation & the staples split) and she couldn't do it. Since I
wasn't able to make it back up till three days later, this was virtually
a death sentance for the fish.

I returned to find the fish upside down & on the bottom quite dead. I'm
not sure exactly when the fish passed away. Water quality was bad, and
I'm pretty upset because of the amount of time and money I spent trying
to keep it alive. For one small £3.99 fish I've spent £68.49 (on top of
all the other equipment that was required on the other fish) and I've
skipped work, spend countless hours changing water, aging it and ruining
my flats carpet.

Oh well, that's only 27 pints down the pub, a whole lot of inconvience &
a lot of p*ss taking from my friends. Lets hope the rest stay healthy.

As my uncle informed me over the weekend "The best treatment is a good
hard brick" - but I don't think I could ever bring myself to do that.

Water change had been done just before going. fed it a little before I
left (no overfeeding) and tank had finished its cycling week before.

Ho-hum. The corydoras love it in the new tank.
