Have a moor and a oranda, each about 3" long, in a well filtered 50gal tank
with a couple of live plants and a couple of rocks. Light is on maybe 12
hours a day. Water parameters are ok, temp is ok, fish are (touch wood) well
and healthy but within a week of cleaning the sides of the tank, everything
is covered with algae again. how safe are these algae tablets that you see
in pet shops in the UK. And do they work?
Thanks

no algae cleaning fish, no algae tablets are safe. what is safe is to use an
aquarium sponge on the glass once a week while doing water changes.
what are your water quality parameters, ammonia, nitrites, nitrates and pH?
especially nitrates? Ingrid

Do you need to keep light on for so long?
less light=less Algae.
Does sunlight shine into your tank at anytime
during the day?
I had a bit of an algae problem (not as much as you)
until some snails got into my tank. Not sure snails are good
advice (some carry nasties) but they sure cleared up all the algae
(brown algae) on my glass.
