Hi, I'm new to this newsgroup, I have two redcap orandas, Hyper and
Active.
I had to go on a trip to new zealand recently and entrusted a friend
of mine (who already had a little experience with goldfish) to look
after them. I gave a huge goldfish tutorial, like what times to clean
the tank, testing the water quality, syphoning under gravel to suck out
hidden food and poops, symptoms of diseases, how much to feed, and what
brand of goldfish food to buy,and when to put in new filter wool are
some of the things I taught her. She seemed to understand it clearly.
Now I'm worried about them. Did I miss anything crucial to the
survival of the goldfish?

If she has experience, I think you'll be okay. I'd be the same way, though.
Write it down in a schedule if it makes you feel better, so it is exactly as
you want it...

Perhaps you might provide the phone number and name of a local fish
guru to whom your friend might turn if further info is needed? (You
might also tell them whom to avoid.)
Cheers!

Really depends on the duration of the trip. Even out to a couple of
weeks benine neglect is often a better policy than trying to train a
non-fish person to be a fish-person...
