My fantailed goldfish has developed over the last 12 hours two large
red blotches on his face and body. Also reddened areas on the body.
Could someone please give me an idea of what may be wrong with him?
What can I do to get rid of the marks? Is there a medicine? The other
fantail goldfish is so far OK.
Thankyou very much! ~*Zoe*~ XxX

EMERGENCY
1. check the water parameters: pH, ammonia, nitrite, nitrates
2. do the fish physical
3. change some or all of the water, add 1 teaspoon salt per 5 gallons water
4. from the water parameters and physical decide on a course of action
5. if there is nothing specific, do the tub to tub method

A pleco in a goldfish tank with goldfish is a bad idea.
Plecos are known for sucking the slimecoat of goldfish and killing them!

right. at night they suck slime coat off the GF OR, they are chasing the GF all
night, GF dont get any rest. slime coat prevents bacterial infection of skin. when
it is gone round shaped sores appear. Ingrid
