Hi,one of my goldfish (fancy type) has started swimming
in odd ways.
Sometimes he looks ok,but others he swims around bumping
into plants etc.
Last night he was swimming upside down and his back looked
bent, then he was aimlessly drifting along on his side, looked like
he was struggling to right himself.
Any info welcome.

1. check the water parameters: pH, ammonia, nitrite, nitrates
2. do the fish physical
3. change some or all of the water, add 1 teaspoon salt per 5 gallons water
4. from the water parameters and physical decide on a course of action
5. if there is nothing specific, do the tub to tub method
on the back and bent does not have a good outlook. Ingrid

First thing to do, is to follow Ingrid's advice and check water parameters
etc, as poor water quality is almost always the cause of problems in
goldfish.
Secondly if the fish's back is bent then you need to check for stray
electrical current in your water, and also consider his diet as nutritional
deficiencies can cause this to happen.
