My goldfish who is battling dropsy seems to be thinning (starting to see
through and wear away) over the gill covers and wen area. Is this a
bacterial problem, parasite problem or because she isn't eating much?
I've checked all water parameters (ammonia, pH, nitrite) and they are
all OK.
I've got my hospital tank temp at 84.5F, 1/8 teaspoon epsom salt per 5
gal to treat the dropsy. I had to stop feeding the Romet fish food
'cause my fish refused to eat it after 2 weeks of it, but she will eat
Hikari pellets. Could the epsom salts be causing the thinning of the
skin layer? I don't have erythromycin handy (well, I do but it expired
in 2002) but have kanamycin. Will that be effective on "Skinny Disease?"
