Help, I restarted my GF hoby and I want to do it right this time. Do I need
a heater? what temperature is right for GF?

Here is the info:

29G tank, Aquaclear 300, an biowheel 330 is on the way. One thin layer of
river rock. One air pump. I am thinking adding another Aquaclear 200 to the
tank. The tank is about 3 year old and used to have GF for 1.5 year and
tropical for the rest. I moved all tropical out to a new and there went the
heater.

I bought 2 goldfish, one is a gold oranda (4 to 5 inch with tail) and one is
a gold pompom/oranda or whatever it is (I think it is about 7 inch). Now the
room temperature is 68F constant. Do I need a heater or not? Please help and
thanks in advance.

Sincerely

DZ

NEED a heater, given constant 68degF? No.

However, your fish may be more lively in a tank heated to the mid 70s.

I keep mine at 74 deg F. (And the fish room is 64-67 degs in the winter
and who knows how high during the summer...)

yes, get a heater for two reasons. GF like it warmer, around 75oF AND even more
important is to keep the water temp stable. Ingrid
