swordtail, guppy, and 2 tetras....nipping by
Danya
Hi,
I'm new to this group, so be nice!
I've had a 10 gallon aquarium for about 6 months now. I did have 2
swordtails and 1 guppy. One of the swordtails died, so I bought 2
tetras....different types though. Ever since I bought the 2 tetras,
my guppy and swordtail have been nipped at. Their...

Ich question by
Len
I have a 15 gallon tank with some tetras and a couple of corys. The
catfish have come down with ich. I am familiar with the method of
raising the temperature to speed up the life cycle of the parasite and
adding salt. My LFS recommended 1 teaspoon of salt and raising the
temperature to about 78º...

Lifespan of ottocinculus by
David M. Moore
I've got a question here about ottocats. How long do they normally live in
an aquarium? They don't seem to last very long for me, and seem to die off
within 6 months to a year.
My first reaction would be maybe I'm just bad at keeping fish...if it
weren't for the fact that I have a silver dollar...

Going to be away for a week. by
nuchumYussel
I have never been away from my tank for more than four days. But come
next week, I will be away for a week, 7 days. What I normally do when
i am gone is:
A water change the day I leave
A filter check the day I leave
Have a neighbor come by to feed the fish ( she is a non-aquarist.)
Do a health...

Firethorn

SEEM pretty good - but I wanted some more feedback. Should i also use
an UG filter? Does the eclipse move the surface of the water enough
so I dont need to airate? Im haveing a hard time finding good
insturctions on aerating. ...

in-tank filter question by
Rawley Koonyne
Hey all, I'm in charge of animal care for a neuroscience lab in which we
house lots of aquatic tiger salamanders. We keep them in 30-gallon
tanks, and we're thinking about switching from out-of-tank filters to
in-tank filters, the kind that clips on to the outside.
Does anybody have any...

Tiger Barb about to blow up by
AyntRyte
I just noticed that one of my barbs has gotten *very* fat. I would
dismiss it as a pregnant she, but its eyes are bugging out too. Any
insights?

Yellow Betta by
axemanchris
I wasn't really in the market for a betta, but when I spotted a yellow one
in Petsmart today I grabbed him. I've never seen one this colour before...
beautiful fish. The girl in the fish dept says they almost never get them.
My lucky day to day I think!

water quality queries... by
sophie
I got this info (and a lot more) from my water board's website. I was
quite impressed to find a short document on "tap water and fish-keeping"
there! But I'm too much of a novice to make sense of this bit - could
anyone enlighten me as to what the following info on my tap water
actually...

help for sick gourami by
Denise
I posted the other day thinking my dwarf flame gourami had hole in the head
disease. I've done a bunch of reasearch on it and now I don't think that's
what it is. My gourami has been fine-as have its tankmates (except for a
short bout of white poop that i treated with anit-parasitics). I crushed...

I'm a fish killer by
Glenn Woodell
I'm having a bad night and my fish are having an even worse one. Just did a
routine water change on my 20 gallon community tank which has been established
for almost 2-1/2 years with only one catastrophy about a year ago. I had been
cleaning parts on my car during a front suspension rebuild in the...

Silver Angels with Eggs! Help by
Sam
Thanks I had left them alone in the Main Tank, and by this morning all of
them had either been sucked up the tube or turned white. SO perhaps I have
two females, or if there is a male he needs more coaching. Oh well, at
least I have a 5 gallon kiddie tank to play with now. What should I put...

food for little 'uns by
Flash Wilson
Second batch of axolotls have hatched and I'd like to do better
with this lot. Last ones were fed liquifry and then later live
blood worms. They didn't touch the worms.
The hatchlings simply vanished until after a month or so there
were none left.
This time there are more hiding places for them,...

Acceptable Current in Tropical Tanks? by
Dan White
One other question comes to mind for my resurrected 55 gallon tank. It used
to house marine fish, and there is a pretty good sized pump circulating
water. The filter is located at the back left part of the tank, and
discharges to the right. This creates a kind of circular flow pattern. It
is...
