Happy 4th of July to all by
nuchumYussel
As the title states, Happy 4th of July to all. On July 4th, Americans
recieved many rights. Among those rights was the right to vote. Don't
forget about this right when the presidential election in November
comes around!
Vote John Kerry!

ebo-jager question by
Mary E. Hill
What's that little blue button on the top of the submersible jager heaters
for? I don't see an explanation anywhere, although it probably said in the
packaging that's long gone;)

Easy ant snack for my fish! by
JJ
Hey my fish seemed to really enjoy it. Bet the ants were bummed
though.
So here is what I did:
1. Just drink a can of soda and set the can down by an ant trail in
the backyard.
2. Came back a couple of hours later to see a bunch of ants on the
can.

Why would nitrite and or pH go up? What to do about algea & snails? by
Dave Peck
Please be gentle if this is bad etiquette to cover so many issue in one
post, but it is a biosystem and may all be related, right?
Testing the parameters today I was very surprised that the nitrites were not
zero. The ammonia was not clear, but then again the water is very green,
and the ammonia...

What is cycling? by
Christy84065
What does it mean to have cycled the tank? My tank went from high
nitrites to now high amonia. When I saw the amonia level I paniced
and did a water change, but I am wondering how long of a turn around I
am looking at and exactly what a cycle entails and what kind of time
frame am I looking at?...

What can I use this tank for??? by
CanadianCray
I am able to get a few of these tanks for about $30.00CDN & am just
wondering what they could be used for in my fish room. Not for display.
They are 100gal tanks 36 x 40 x 15.5. I was considering using them as
breeding tanks for Blue Malawi Crabs (Potamonautes orbitospinus). Any
Ideas???

Tank placement by
nuchumYussel
I have finally convinced my family to let me get a tank for the
kitchen counter top. It will probably be 3 gallons. I am used to
caring for larger aquariums, (my smallest is 20g.) The first problem
is the tank's placement. There would be a microwave on the same counter
top, would I have to move the...

Are your fish members of your family? by
Lady Samsara
I ask, as I tend to get very attached to mine, most particularly my
Bettas. When they get ill and pass I feel pain and sorrow, especially
if I have had them for a time. I know my feelings are natural for *me*
(perhaps it's the Buddhist in me) but wonder if others have this sort
of attachments to...

Should I do water change whilst cycling??? by
Desmond Wong
Should I do a water change whilst cycling?
I have found after a week of running ammonia is still at 0, nitrites are at
0... this is not too good is it? I have put a filter sponge from the
previous tank in there to start things up, as well as an algae wafter that
is rotting at the bottom of the...

Questions concerning Freshwater Moray (snowflake) Eels in general. by
Dances With Ferrets
I've heard multiple schools of thought on freshwater Snowflake eels...
Do they originate in salt-water and are acclimated to fresh? Some
have told me that they only live a short time in freshwater, is this
true? What is the best diet for them? What is the best tank
setup/environment for them?...

Tank sizes by
supermazz
I'm new here, and going to be getting into fish soon. I've been doing
a bit of reading over the last couple of days, and here's my first of
what wil no doubt be a long list of questions.
I've seen many references to tanks, saying that someone owns a small
tank, this fish is more suited to a large...

Distilled/RO water? by
Nitesbane
Hi. I have a 55g planted tank (low light). My tap water isn't exactly
ideal for my community fish or my plants (pH about 8, GH ~250ppm), and I'd
like to use distilled or RO water instead of using peat moss or water
softeners that would change the color of my water. What is a good mix of
tap...

330 bio wheel doesn't turn by
Dick
I have two 330 Penguins with 4 bio wheels. Earlier I posted regarding
the wheels sticking and not turning. I fixed the problem with new
filters which increased the spillway water flow.
However, nothing is forever. One of the 4 wheels stopped turning,
that well already had been cleaned and had a...

WHAT IS OVER FEEDING? by
Christy84065
I am so curious what everybody considers to be over feeding. My
thought has always been that if the fish eat it they are hungry or
need the food. I feel bad if I selfishly give them less so that they
don't poop too much so I have less work to do. Clearly if they can eat
it they need it and/or are...

sunset gourami problem by
Denise
One of my sunset dwarf gouramis seems to be ill. It sits on the bottom of
the tank and hides between plants and a rock. It hasn't come out to feed
since the day before yesterday. It looks OK - I've looked at it thru a
magnifying glass and can't see any obvious problems. All other tank...

florida native freshwater shrimp by

Does anyone know the scientific name of the freshwater shrimp that lives in
the lakes and rivers of florida? I think they're called grass shrimp, but
I'm not sure. They're about an inch long, and transparent. I was trying to
find out if anyone has had any luck with them in an aquarium. I've...
