Tankmates for Guppies by
Jon Hedge
I'm new to the aquaria world, and having now cycled my 50g tank with a pair
of Guppies, I'm looking to add some tank mates. An obvious first choice is
to build up the Guppy school, but I'd also like to add some extra variety
(over time). Can anyone recommend any ideal tank mates to live with...

phosphate control by
Larry
Lighting is 55w on for about 10-12 hours/day. I use fertilizer once a
week, potassium twice weekly and have a diy CO2.
I think I should be lowering the PO4. Some algae buildup is showing
on my plants. Other than more water changes should I be using
something I saw at my LFS. It was a white sack...

Any idea what can I put in my discus tank to eat algae? I used to have

What about ghost shrimps? Any thing else?
Thanks

tetras in there as tank mates. My algae is getting...

Fish Suggestion Wanted by
David J. Braunegg
I used to have a bookmark to a site that would let you punch in various
requirements, then give you a list of fish that met them. I can't find it,
though, so I am looking for fish suggestions.
I am trying to find fish that meet these criteria:
- small (1" or so)
- freshwater
- pH 7.8
- planted...

It's the lights!!! by
Suzie-Q
I have three 2.5 gallon tanks, each with one female betta. All three
are the same except for the lights. One has the original incandescent
light that came with the tank. In the others I replaced the incandescent
bulb with one of those flourescent screw-in bulbs. I thought the light
would be more...

Mariachi
I have a cray in a tank with some mollies (and a divider to protect the
mollies) I am thinking of increasing the amount of aquarium salt in the
water and am wondering if any one knows how this will affect the cray?

They say a picture is worth 1000 words... Here is a picture of what comes
out of my aqua-mini filter's sponge.

I cleaned my cloudy tank today again. So, how does one get rid of this
algae?
I have tried reducing the lighting time on the tank to only...

Crayfish identification by
outpaddling
We recently picked up a crayfish at a local pet shop, and we're curious
about what species it might be. The pet store owner didn't know, but
said that it came from a goldfish breeding pond in Arkansas. The top
of the carapace is grey-greenish. The lighter parts of the carapace,
especially the...

Sad about vortex filter :-( .... by
Daniel Morrow
I know I have preached about the vortex xl in the past but because of todays
experience I had with mine I am planning on sending mine to storage.
Everything was going fine when I was going to use it to fix what I think is
a reduced overeating problem. But after I turned it on the loose output...

Hi,
Lately I have been having a great deal of trouble with algae in my tank.

the gravel initially, and then all over the glass. I have a 4 foot tank. I
have 4 golden loaches in the tank and a plec, who cannot keep up with...
