how to reduce water flow for betta by
Larry
Just bought a 5.5g to replace the 3g. I have an albino cory and one
betta to put in.
Q#1. Can the waterflow in a Penquin 100 be reduced? I think the
output might be a bit much for the betta.
Q#2 I'd like to add two more fish or so. I'd like to either put in 3
panda cory's or two of sometjhing...

Noisy Aquaclear by
Al Haunts
Have an Aquaclear 300 on my 50g. Does a good job but it's a little
too noisy for the location (impeller buzz/rattle, not water noise).
Cleaned it thoroughly & put in a new impeller, no change. Since I got
the filter used, I don't know if it was ever (virtually) silent like
my old Aquaclear Mini...

fish disaster by
mooreay@_no_spam_pipeline.com.au
Hi all
A few weeks ago we noted the out break of a fungal infection in our 4' -190lt
tropical setup. The tank is/was stocked with mostly S American a mix of tetras
and 5 corys, 4 large clown loaches for snail control and a solitary
bristlenose catfish. We checked our ancient copy of Axelrod and...

Buying A New Tank by
Jenny_S
Hello,
I am starting into the aquarium hobby and was thinking of getting a 20
gallon tank to start off with. However, I have no idea what I need and
what quantities to get.
I will need to get a filter, of course. There are several models, and
from what I can see on the market the ones that hang...

What are your major bug bears about you LFS by
Gill Passman
OK, some of you might have been following certain threads, plus also it
has become apparent to me that we all have a different quality of
service and care depending on where we live. Most of us know it is
wrong...and most of us feel powerless to put it right....so for a
starter lets look at the...

Algee again again and others stuff by
Justice
Ok, well my brown spots are turning green, Yah. I'm thinking of getting
a small school of otto's for clean up when I get my new tank. Question
is will the otto's eat algae balls if I run out of algee? Also would
hatchet fish make a good fish to keep with the CL loaches, as I've read
that they like...

Giant Gourami by
Zathoros
I recall some people talking about Giant Gouramis a few months ago. I
happened to see some at the Tulsa Zoo, and thought I would share my video of
them. The tank they were in was quite large, probably 20 feet long., 8 feet
deep and a width of 8-12 feet, it had an irregular shape. The tank...

My convict cichlids eggs have hatched ... what now? by
[email protected]
My convicts eggs have hatched. I'm hatching brine shrimp eggs to feed
them and have removed all the other cichlids from the tank other than
the parents. The yolk sacks are still attached to the fry so I haven't
put any baby brine shimp in the tank yet. I am relatively new with
cichlids, but have...

Female bettas by
Gill Passman
Saw some great looking female bettas today when I went out to get
supplies...and with all this betta talk recently I was seriously
tempted...However, rather than rush out and get them there are a few
questions I've got:-
1. Does the not mix betta/gourami rule apply to females as well? Almost
all...

Looking for lighting suggestions by
Gill Passman
Well the tank upgrade is continuing in the planning stages and I now
have a clearer idea of what I am going to get. Hubby is now well into
the project and will be sorting the cabinet. We're currently now
debating the height of the tank - it's going to be custom built. I was
thinking 24" but he...

Oto greed by

I recently purchased 9 more Otos for the big tank, but left them in the
office tank for a few weeks to pass the health check. I moved six Otos to
the big tank last week, leaving one Oto in the office tank. (I have no idea
where the other two went.) I then added two SAEs to the office tank for...

And now, I have ram eggs on a flat rock. Both parents are fanning the eggs
