Tank Heaters by
bassett
A while ago I asked the question about removing a tank heater from its
glass tube for repair,
I have worked out a way to do this, in under 2 minutes without any damage
or even marks to the rubber seal.
Consider the rubber bung, to be like a cork in a bottle, external force
will not remove the...

Mephistopheles
Hello all,
I have a couple of All-Glass compact fluorescent 48 inch strip lights
on my Malawi and South American cichlids tanks and I am trying to
find suitable replacement bulbs. I really like the 55 W bulbs that
came with the lights. These are made by GE and have a temperature of
9375 Kelvin...

Archer Fish. by
bassett
Has anyone heard of these, The story I got was that in the wild, they can
squirt water at bugs to bring them down.
These things are Silver with Black lines, and are triangular shape, I have
no idea how big they get. They are fresh water tropical, and I,ve been
advised to keep them on there own....

Shy Oscars by
HRATZKY
I just purchased a pair of young red oscars. I set up a 10 gallon tank only for
them. They are apparently frightened and are immobile at the bottom of the
tank. They refuse to eat. This has happened in the past with oscars. How can I
get them to become active?

Anyone here ever try a deep Sand bed in a fresh water tank? by
John Hudson
Just on a whim after getting out of the Salt Water hobby, I tried a deep
sand bed of Playsand (About 4-6 inches) in my 80 gallon tank. I'm one of
those wacko's that likes to put local wildlife from my vacations into my
tank to see how they do. I've REALLY lucked out with some conical snails I
got...

How do I have a brightly-lit tank without algae? by
Alan Silver
Hello,
I have a 220 litre (24" cube) Malawi cichlid tank (see

green algae problem.
I'm fairly certain that the problem is caused by the amount and/or...

Electric Blue Johanni missing part of it's tail by
Gill Passman
One of my Electric Blues has lost part of her tail. There is no sign of
infection but she is keeping pretty much hidden. She also had an assignation
with one of the males in a cave this afternoon, quite fascinating to watch.
Should I just leave her be and monitor her progress or should I be...

Suicidal Oscar by
[email protected]
I hava a young (5 inches) oscar alone in a 75 gallon tank. I have in
there a UGF and a power filter, and the oscar somehow managed to jump
through the power filter hole a few minutes before I got home from
classes. I generally feed him three times a day, so I checked, didn't
see him and looked...

Got my first baby :-) by
Gill Passman
Just noticed a baby in the Malawi tank tonight.....my first :-) It seems
pretty clever at keeping itself hidden in a small cave at the bottom of the
tank - too small for the others to get in there with it....
I think it is probably a Yellow Lab but don't know for sure. However, one of
them has not...

Frontosa babies by
Glenn S.
I ended up stripping my female Front a little bit to early but all of
the eggs were wiggling and it's now been five days post stripping and
the eggs sacs are starting to disappear. The 'wigglers' are beginning
to swim a bit. I guess I'll be ok :-)
On Saturday, 23 Apr, I noticed one of my Fronts...
