Will this fish mix get along by
Christopher Kollmann
Hello,
I'm starting a 55 gallon Mbuna tank. After doing some research,
especially on www.cichlid-forum.com, I was thinking of stocking the
following mix of fish:
4 Labidochromis caeruleus
4 Pseudotropheus socolofi
3 Synodontis multipunctatus
( 1 2)

Filter material for Eheim 2227 by
Ed Greenberg
I am running a 50 gallon tank with 13 African Cichlids. I have two filters
attached to it, a eheim 2222 pro and eheim 2213. I've decided to chuck the
2213 and get the 2227 wet dry. I figure I'd have less maintenance and still
have both biological and mechancial filtering. The problem is that...

how can I figure out what fish I've got? by
Tom Peel
Hi
our daughter has left home to go to college and left us with an
aquarium full of fish. So I've been cleaning the filter every few weeks
and feeding them daily. Now I'd like to know what they are. I think
they're cichlids, plus a few small catfish. Is there some good website
I can go to try and...

Newbie has some questions by
Larry
Hi everyone. I'm Kim from Ontario and my husband Larry and I started
a 26 gallon bow aquarium up with some cichlids. We have 2 dolphins, 2
yellow labs, 2 zebra and 1 I forget the name. They are all swimming
pretty happily around and look beautiful.
We spoke at length to the people at the fish...

feeding blue rams by
JazzyB
Try freeze dried bloodworms (aka red grubs). German Rams are omnivores and
like some "meat" in their diet. I feed mine dried bloodworms quite
regularly and they've done quite well by spawning, etc.

algae woes by
Scott Far Thunder
Hau kolas..quick question..short of snails, can someone reccommend any
readily available algae-eaters for a malawai tank (75 gallon) in the
"aggressive" ;) category? Plecos are apparently not an option..tank
dominaters will kill these. Removing the dominaters will not help..these
particular fish...

Feeding Mbunas. by
Gary
Hello,
How many times per day do you think I should feed young Mbuna's? There are
14 in the tank.
I have been feeding them maybe 3 - 4 times a day, with only enough food for
them to have it all eaten within a minute.
They seem to have a much more aggressive appetite compared with...

Fish that are okay with Convicts by
Moe Belli
Okay, I know convicts are holy terrors and breed like rabbits but my 3
convicts are doing nicely in my 50 gallon tank with 2 clown loaches and
a pleco.
So, what other fish could I add that would be okay in this tank. I
wouldn't mind getting a few smaller fish (in schools) but don't know if
they...

Oh no.... by
ss
Please keep a watchful eye on your new cichlid tank. It typically
takes more than 2 weeks to cycle a tank, and yet you have thrown in 15
cichlids in just that time, which are typically more sensitive than
trops.
watch the nitrite/nitrate levels
cheers

Cichlids and memory by
Dan J.S.
I removed a male and a female convicts for two weeks. This is because they
breed all the time, and defend 1/3 of the tank (120 g). Well, I put them
back yesterday, and guess what, they went right back to the same spot --
defending it again. There are about 20 hiding places, and they selected...

Anyone care to identift these juvenile cichlids?
http://www.cutecats.co.uk/cichlids.jpg
I am wondering what these are, I have 10 in total, a few of each in the
picture.
I want to add another 10 to 15, of a different Cichlid, hopefully which will
become colourful adults. I like the look of the...

I am getting a water softner??? by
Samuel Warren
On Dec 22 I am having a water softner installed. I had 14 grain hardness.
What would be the best method to acclimate the fish to the new softer water
condition, or should I use the hard water from an unconditioned outside cold
faucet to service the tank with. Since it will be the dead of...

Changed my mind....going for mixed Lake Malawi Cichlids. by
Gary
I presume they are easier to keep than Discus?
The aquarium is a Juwel Vision 260 (260 UK Litres).
A few newbie questions if that is OK.
1: I medium sized Pebble substrate in the aquarium, will this suffice?
2: I have 5 medium sized pieces of bog wood in the aquarium, is this OK?
3: I have 8...
