Flowerhorn Hybrids by
RedForeman ©®
I'll be the first to admit, I didn't like them at all, because of the stigma
'hybrid' and relating hybrid to bloodparrots, I duly dismissed any hybrid as
a 'bad thing' .... but is it?
Hybrids were/are different... I'm not defending them, but about the
Flowerhorns.... anyone have...

Algae Chemicals Question by
Ross
Hello,
My aquarium is near a large window and gets a lot of algae. I am
constantly cleaning it but losing the battle. How safe are the algae
chemicals? I have 10 mixed Malawai's and a few botia's. Which chemical
is best?
Thanks,
Ross

CICLID QUESTION - PLEASE HELP!!!! by
JHCC
I have a 125 gallon tank of various Malawi cichlids.
Last night, I noticed a small cichlid (3 mm) looked like a Blue Cobalt,
hiding under a rock. He was the only one I saw. After staring at the tank,
I noticed worm like larvae swimming near the top of the tank, twirling like
little mosquitoe...

Filter Media Question (Rainbow Lifegard setup) by
sl
Well I have a Rainbow LIfegard system, with a Quiet One Pump, which
pumps 780gph. I bought a mechanical filter that was 20 micron rated.
This thing is 20" long and fits in the canister no problem. I start
the pump and things work fine. but quickly stop working. Is the
media too good and picks...

Ping: Red Foreman!! by
'nutherBob
Red, remember the electric blue's you have that are changing colors? (I
thank that was you..) Guess what, mine are too. One is turning yellow,
looks very healthy, the other is a bit smaller, but he's changing too.
I couldn't find the earlier thread about this, so is this a problem or a
Petsmart...

Book suggestions? by
Joe B.
After about 20 years I'm getting back into fishkeeping, and much has changed
in that time. I want to set up a tank with central or south american
(probably dwarf) cichlids plus a few other occupants and I need a refresher
course in aquarium know-how before I do it. Can anyone recommend any...

Paracyprichromis deaths by
Cichlidiot
I've lost a couple of Paracyprichromis nigripinnis out of my juvenial
school (was 9, now 6) in the past couple of months and am wondering if it
is possible that they were harassed to death. They are housed in a 40gal
with 3 juvenial calvus and 1 adult male similis. The similis was put in
that tank...

Julidochromis transcriptus black/gombi by
Tjaard de Vries
a fish store about 150 miles from here sells these and the lady at the
phone told me that a couple of these fish would be suitable for shell
dweller-like small tanks like 50 litres.
is there anyone here with experience with these fish in small tanks?

odd behavior? by
Chris Gentry
I've got a yellow lab that appears to be swimming a race, but it isn't going
anywhere. It is swimming in the same spot, but its body is moving like it
is trying to sprint somewhere. It has been doing this all day long. My
water parameters are fine, and I just changed ~20% of the water 3 days...

Brichardi behaviour by
Boozhound
I have half a dozen Brichardi of varying sizes in a 20 gallon tank. For the
past few months they have all been the best of pals. However I now have a
whole lot of Brichardi fry in the tank too. Four of the adults still get on
fine, but they have all turned on the other two, so that I have had...

Lonely Geophagus Jurupari? by
MarAzul
I know some cichlids don't mind being the odd man out while some prefer the
company of their own species. Which category do Geo's fit into? I used to
have 2 but one died a while back. The remaining fish seems content to move
all my gravel around all by his (her?) lonesome. Should I get another...

taming cichlids by
Tjaard de Vries
perhaps this idea is nuts, but my fish know me, they swim towards the
front window when I'm around the tank at feeding times, so I wonder... is
it difficult to make cichlids hand tame? it'd be nice :) .

Victorian Cichlids by
Kelly
I recently purchased some victorians, I cannot find much info on them at
all, wondering if anyone could help. They are Paralabidacromis sp. half
crimson tides which I think has been renamed to haplochromis half crimson
and Astatotilapis sp. 44 which we hope are the haplochromis zebra
obliquedens....

spotting inbred scalares by
Tjaard de Vries
I'm thinking of keeping angelfish, but as these fish are extremely
popular, I'm a bit worried about their gene pool. I'll definitely take the
natural form, as they were meant to be, but it'd be helpful if I knew how
to separate good specimens from inbred ones.
anyone who can give me some insight...
