HELP! after weeks of hardship, fish growing black on fins, burst bubble eye bubble? by Steven C
to summarize this: two fish left, one of them with extensive black on the edges of his fins (but this looks like a part of his normal color, but 2 weeks ago he was 100% orange) , one of them starting to get black blotches, and (its a bubble eye) with a burst bubble. is the turning black normal? I...

water treatment chemical question by [email protected]
is the water treatment chemical to get rid of the chloramine safe for humans? I use the regular drink containers around the house to store treated water for changes - how well do I have to clean those things again before I use 'em for Kool-aid? house is a bit too small to store separate water...

Swimming questions by Fruitfly
Hi Everyone, I normally don't post to the group (I'm the shy, quiet type- never much to say), but I have something to ask. I have ( had) 10 Goldies, and up untill recently they were doing great. Around 2 weeks ago, my favourite fantail, Sceramin' Jay Hawkins, started to swim funny. His tail was...

New Tank Question by Milky-G
I've had 3 small fantails for about 2 years in a small Eclipse tank (~2 gallons). They've thrived with no problems, but, of course, they needed more room. So I started a new 10 gallon for them. Setup, filled, treated, etc. and waited for 2 days (I know, I should've waited a week or so). Then I...

Moor floating on side by BaBeL FiSh
Hi all, my moor appears to be floating on the top on it's side most of the time. Occasionally it has a swim about (lethargically) but seems to be demonstrating the signs described he http://experts.about.com/q/1472/3627718.htm The advice is to feed it peas, but since it's not eating, I can't...

nipping oranda by Rodney
I've got an Oranda that likes to nip at other goldfish. Is it normal behavior? I don't think it is trying to breed. It just loves to bother the other goldfish.

How much Vitamin C ? by Gfishery
How much Vitamin C do goldfish need? My goldfish flakes are higher in just about everything except Vitamin C compared to my goldfish slow-sinking crumbles. The latter has about 6 times (min. 1400 vs. 250 mg/kg) the Vitamin C of the flakes, but tend to get lodged in the gravel before the fish can...

Mmmmm...., you salted my Algae by Bill Stock
I thought I'd add some salt to the tank to prevent whatever is bothering Panfry from affecting the other fish. I've read a lot of pros and cons about salt, so I was a little hesitant. The recommended dose seems to be about one tablespoon for every five gallons, which in my case is about a cup of...

Columnaris diagnosis (Panfry goes to the Hospital) by Bill Stock
I need help diagnosing a sick GF. It started with a white bump on his snout a few months back, which I treated with Pimafix/Melafix. This seemed to knock it back, but did not cure it. I noticed that keeping the water pristine, seemed to do more for him than the medications. But daily water changes...

what size air pump for large air stone stick? by [email protected]
I bought an 8inch air stone stick for the back of the tank, but my old very small pump, only gives enough air to make a few bubbles right at the start of the stick. Obviously its underpowered.\ What size air pump do you all recommend to get a stick of this size bubbling? thx - Craig
