pH troubles in a cycling tank by
Kellbot
My tank has been cycling since a few days after Thanksgiving.
My pH is low, 6.8. Over the past few days I've been putting pinches of
baking in the water to raise the pH, and I've noticed that my Nitrites
are finally dropping. Now they're in the "not quite zero" range.
I have a bare bottom tank...

catfish missing by
snow
I just bought a catfish for a 10 gallon tank to help clean the bottom. There
is two other fish similiar size in the tank. After 3 days, this morning the
catfish can't be found. I checked the filter, nothing there. Could the
catfish be hiding in the gravel? Any information appreciated.

Low tech way to keep goldfish by
dz
After more than 7 years keeping goldfish, it all comes down to this: water
change and sponge filters.
You can put two goldfish in a 20 gallon long tank plus a Marineland
powersponge filter (or a air driven large sponge). Cheange 50% water per
week (use the snake for water change, easy task) and...

Newbie question by
sb
Hi all,
My sister has bought me a fishtank for Christmas so now comes time to chose
the fish to go in it.
Can anyone suggest any useful websites which would list fish along with
their pictures, how easy they are to keep, what conditions they need etc?
TIA!

Question for Ingrid - Peroxide dip? by
tc355
I'm trying the 1:9 peroxide dip for possible flukes. Actually, I only
need dip the area around one of the ventral fins which is the problem
site, so I'm not totally immersing my lionhead. If I need to do this
more than once, how often can the peroxide dip be used safely on my 4
inch goldfish?

Nitra-Zorb by
Kellbot
I've seen a few positive reviews for Nitra-Zorb, and since I'll be in
and out of town over the holidays I thought I'd pick one up, just for
extra help.
Thing is, I can't figure out how on earth to set it up.
The instructions say "place in your filter" but I find that placing it
in my filter is...

Kellbot
My new tank is up and running! It's a ~30 gallon (weird shape, hard to
figure out). Right now I've got 1 goldfish in there for cycling, and
I'll add one or two more eventually.
I left it bare bottom, because I'm tired of vacuuming gravel. But I
wanted plants, so I took some brandy glasses (the...
