Oh Sure!! by
Mark and Kim Smith
He'll drink out of the pond but he won't chase the birds away! Silly
dog! Actually, I don't think it is a pond anymore. More of a bird
bath! He won't even chase them away from his food bowl!

Rocks, pads, surprises, and plenty of work by
Nate
We have an 11x16 Aquascape pond that is about 3 1/2 years old. We
started having issues with the pond not filling to capacity and
couldn't find the leak. I also wanted the pond to be a little deeper
so I decided to remove the old liner, dig a little, and install a
larger liner (the original liner...

Bottom Drains - Nice Article From a Website by
[email protected]
Don't install bottom drains.
Why? 2 main reasons:
1. You have to cut a hole in the bottom of the rubber liner to fit the
drain pipe. No matter how well you plan this and use the top of the
line sealants, it will leak. Maybe not in the first 2-3 years, but no
matter the claims of sealants, they...

a Tuesday's WELCOME TO REC.PONDS by
kathy
Gooooood morning!
Well, that's odd. On Google, it decided to post today's
welcome under yesterday's welcome... so I'm adding the
day name.
Someone suggested putting the letter 'a' in front as their
newsreader does thing alphabetically. Maybe I'll throw
the date in there too ;-)
Anyway.

Creating a Pond without using a liner (clay) by
RainLover
I've created a couple of ponds in the past and I'm getting ready to do
my biggest and best yet. The area I would like to put the pond has
two things going for it, as far as creating a natural, clay-lined
pond:
A - The area I'm now in is fairly heavy clay.
B - The water-table in the area where I...

Yard and Plant Bed Fertilizers and Koi by

I had a question as to if runoff from a fertilized yard was dangerous
to Koi if it got in the pond. I emailed Scott's Company for an answer.
This may not apply to you if you have people come and spray stuff on
your lawns and plant beds with chemicals that you know nothing about.

Question for Long Beach, CA area pond keepers by
Dsybok
I have kept koi of various sizes over the past two years, in mainly small
ponds. Upgraded to about an 800 gallon pond last summer. I have kept the
same 5 koi and one comet since then until today. One is missing.
It was a good sized fish, my largest at 12, maybe 16 inches. Fat. Too big
for the...

Does anyone know the recomended flow rate for a Skippy filter? by
nortyler
I have a 3500 gph pump for an aprox. 2500-3000 gal pond. Maybe a 3ft
rise and 2in pvc get the flow down to 3000 gph. I am wondering if I
need to divert some flow if I build a 100 gal Skippy or if this is an
acceptable flow rate for the filter. I know some of you use Skippy
filters and would...
