Pond Cover by
Peter Breed
After reading several websites that suggested covering a pond and
keeping the filter running during the winter I decided to give it a go.
My first attempt has used bigbubble bubble wrap covering about 70% of
the pond area and insulating the filter. This has been a spectacular
success with the...

Moderated Newsgroups FAQ by
[email protected]
As you already know, I provided this link in my first followup to my
first post on Saturday.
It gives some basic info, but it is __hopelessly__ outdated.
Written in 1997. Most of what it says no longer applies.

Just returned after a year's absence. What about a Rec.Pond.Mod group by
Koi Lover
Hey George...go get a dam clue. Rec.ponds is dead, gonna stay dead,
and will never be what it once was. There is just too many other
forums that are moderated that are trashed or controlled by
priveledged jerks. They tried to make a moderated forum already and
its been trashed or used bery little....

Goldfish fry by
PatC
My Fantails spawned about 3 weeks ago & I moved the pots with the eggs in to
a new area that has no adult fish.
There were hundreds originally, but now there only seems to be about 40 or
so.
I have found a lot of dead or nearly dead fry in the last week. We have had
some very extreme weather here...

New Pond by
misterdj13
hello all!!!
We recently purchased a fish pond. we do not have any fish in it yet.
the question we have is for the the winter months do we just unplug the
filter or what do we do? We have a 12 inch waterfall and it is a rubber
liner. there isn't any fish or plant life yet. Thanks for your time

missing water by
Barbara
A number of times a year (or a month) about half the water in the pond "goes
missing" There are not leaks but the water within 10 or so hours just
disappears. A pal who has a similar problem call it an inversion. Any
insight here?

HELP! Removing chlorine from pond water by
[email protected]
Help! My landscaper accidently knocked a hose off my pond pump and
emptied 3/4 of the water. When I arrived home my fish were in a foot
of water, alive & swimming but I had to add water back late, last
night immediatley, about 1,000 gallons. I didn't have any
dechlorinator. Today I saw them...

Koi Fungus by
Beer Rock
One of my metallic Koi was looking slower than normal so I've netted him &
he's got a bad dose of fungal infection. I've treated & isolated him (in a
small 20 Gallon plastic box) & treated the pond.
He's through the 1st night but the rot / cotton wool has got to a lot (30%)
of his...

dropped in the 500 watt heater and the temp rose nicely to almost 60 with the warm
spell last week. dropped a bit since then but everyone is happy to see me with food.
now I have to remember to give em some food...

Below ground filter by
Bill Stock
I'm considering a bottom drain and a double barrel filter for next year.
Ideally I'd like the pump after the filter to maximize muck removal and
eliminate the need for a pre-filter. Unfortunately this would mean putting
the barrels below ground, which would not be my first choice for a number of...

Dopey fish by
Bill Stock
I was trying to muck out the pond today, before I cover it for the winter.
But I kept netting more fish than muck. I guess the cooler water has made
them a little dopey. Any other time I've tried to catch them it's been a
merry chase.
