Finished with Laguna products. *QUALITY* pump recommendation wanted by
scs0
I'm finished with Laguna products. I have their Laguna MaxFlow 2900
and it's the most undependable piece of **** I've ever bought. If Sony
and Microsoft worked together to bring a product to market even it
would be more reliable than this lousy pump. I even hate this thing
more than my lousy...

New Pond filter suggestions... by
John Arruda
I'm looking to replace my current Tetra pond filter on a 1000 gallon Koi
pond with something people are having good luck with....
The problem is my current filter needs to be cleaned at least once per
week. I have a fair amount of algae remnants which need to be hosed off
of the Prefilter pads...

Froggy by
M&K
We have a pretty small pond; one of those kidney-shaped plastic jobs you
pick up at Menard's or Home Depot. It nestles snugly in the corner where the
steps to our deck meet the pavers bordering our backyard. Probably a foot
deep at it's deepest.
Last week, a green frog took up residence here. We...

fish dying in pond by
Kevin
First, I've always had pretty good luck with my pond.
I may have pushed it last weekend.
My pond has a mixture of some koi and some garden variety comet
goldfish.
Last Sunday I picked up some new koi as well as about 10 small "feeder"
type goldfish.

All the games people play now, every night every day now
Never meaning what they say now, never saying what they mean
While they while away the hours in their ivory towers
OMG! Who knew they were singing about usenet way back then!

Heat and Water Temps ?? by
Bette In Ohio
Any good tips on how to help bring down water temps of 80 degrees.
The heat is on, here in OH-- the pond was at 78 degrees yesterday and 81
degrees today.
I've been misting the pond for 3 or 4 hours every evening and topping it
off with cold water every other day.
The pond is about 2200 gals. ...

Any books on defensive pond design? by
scs0
I was curious if there's a good book out there on defensive pond
design. I have been having numerous problems with my latest pond
involving the technology that supports it. For example, I've had
problems with:
1) The pond draining because the filter overflowed
2) Fish dying because the pump...

Pond Shelves - Recommendations Please? by
Davy
I am constructing a 16 sq m butyl-lined wildlife pond. I have built shelves
200mm (8") deep and 500 (18")mm wide. Because the pond is quite large and
will need many marginal plants I intend to plant direct into soil on the
shelves. I will try to shape the soil under the butyl to provide a small...

Oasis Tronic for blanket weed? by
Adrian Underwood
Hi.Was just wondering if anyone has tried the "Oasis Tronic"which apparently
works by electronic copper ionisation.
Sounds like a good way to kill the dreaded blanket weed but would like some
advice first before I consider purchasing one. Thanks

Carol, please do not reply. RP just gets swamped with Off-Topic stuff when
you do. Thanks.

Behaviour of lillies by
BoyPete
I have 2 lilies. One has thrown up a flower about a week ago. Don't know
what time it opens, but it starts to close about 5pm. Why do they open and
close. The other one has two flower heads at the surface but they don't
open. Can someone explain all this, or point me to a website. Ta :)

Water Lilly flowers by
Drew Lovasi
Hello all, the flowers on my lilly are acting weird. After about a day or
so on the surface the stem starts to coil, like a spring, and pulls it under
water. It doesn't seem to ever come back up. What causes this? and how
can I stop it?
Thanks
Drew

Pond Shelves - 2nd Question by
Davy
As mentioned in my previous post I am constructing a 16 sq m butyl-lined
wildlife pond in Wiltshire, England. I intend having a shallow shelf all
round the edge for marginal plants. The pond will be surrounded by a
sloping pebble beach.
My problem now is in deciding what depth the shelf(s)...

green water by
[email protected]
I saw a recent message on green water. I have a 1200 gallon koi pond,
and this year the water has been really dark green. I can hardly see
the fish. Will this cause the fish to develop ulcers or sickness? I
changed the filter and replaced about 2/3 of the water, but it is still
very dark. If...

Lotus that jumped the pot by
gene
I have a lotus that is just starting to put up leaves, and I have found
that one of its three growing points has jumped the pot (I planted it
too close to the edge in the first place). I read a newsletter that
said that the writer took a runner from a lotus that jumped its pot and
replanted it...
