Waterfall in winter? by Dan
I live in zone 7 (MD) and was toying with the idea of leaving the waterfall running all winter. My brother-in-law has done so for the last two years with no apparent ill-effects. Whenenver the pump shuts off, the water drains out of the lines (all run down hill) so I'm not sure a power outage...

Listing Goldfish by Sean Kerns
Hi all, I'm having a problem with a goldfish I hope you can help me with. First off, it's a very small, 5'x7'x2" deep backyard pond with a liner. I've had it about 5 years. The fish in it are all garden variety goldfish, ranging in size between 1.5" up to this one, who's about 6". The pond is a...

Frog development by [email protected]
Ahem, ribit. Anyone know much about frogs out there? Last May I put 3 large tadpoles from the pet store into my 400 gallon pond, here in San Francisco. They are rana pipiens, and I was told they'd develop into frogs by August. Well, here in early November, they look pretty much like large...

Hello, all. For various reasons I haven't posted here in well over a year. My pond and stream are doing very well as are my koi. I have 11 koi. Eight of them are now 12" or longer and it's getting really expensive to feed them. (I'd like to stop feeding altogether and let them make-do with...

Cats by Cecil
We love cats and own a cat.....an INDOOR cat. Our neighbors (two different neighbors) own more than one cat and they stay outdoors all night and most of the day (the cats, not the neighbors). Problem is, one cat loves to fish. She's the only cat I've caught in the act, so I'm blaming her for all...
