4 Specific Questions (moved from "Nudge" thread) by
StringerBell
1) I will be starting/cycling a new tank with Live-Rock. The TONGA rock
looks amazing
to me, but also looks like it has lots more sensitive stuff which would die
during the cycle.
Should I add Tonga Rock AFTER the initial cycling. Is there an
"extra-hearty" type of Live-Rock that
should be used...

Feeding herbivorous tangs by
Al Waitz
I have a 120 gal reef tank established for 8 months. It has mostly soft
corals, hermit crabs, a brittle star a short spined sea urchin, some snails,
and 2 clown fish and 1 cardinal fish and a bunch of micro and macro algae.
I have been adding things very slowly and recently put in two young...

Low PH by
Hello;
I've got a 210 gallon reef tank with a PH running between 7.8 -8.0. The
alkalinity is near the top, around 3.0 or so. Any parameters I should be
looking at that could affect this? Everything seems to be doing pretty good and
that includes fish
(Naso, Purple, Sailfin, Clown, Hippo...

Queen conch feeding by
George Patterson
I have a small queen conch who is currently the main occupant of a 125 gallon
tank. Back before my fish died a few months ago, she grew fat on detritus and
algae. Now, there isn't much, though I throw in a spoonful of clam & kelp every
four days or so. Is there something I could pick up at the...

Marine Supplements by
Steve
I read this firum at least twice a day and find it to be very
helpful......but there is one topic I have yet to see addressed: the use of
SUPPLEMENTS.
About 18 months ago I purchased a fully stocked 24 Nano which I later
changed to a 40 reef. I also have a 72 FOWLR. When I bought the nano I...

Lighting by
Erich
I have no experience maintaining reef aquariums, although I have done
fish only marine tanks for awhile with much success (Never any problem
with diseases). My question is this: Is it possible to find adequate
lighting for marine aquariums in hardware stores? I have heard of
people from...

Flatworms by

I prepared my tank for using "Flatworm Exit" and got a bit careless. Let's just
say that I found out why they're called "bristle worms" in some circles.
How long before the itching dies down?

Eheim 2227, 2229 by
StringerBell
My impression is that the Eheim 2227 and 2229 are canister filters that
gave
some of the benefits of sump, or bio wheel filters.
These seem like a decent compromise from the optimum sump set-ups. It would
really simplify my life if I could set-up with one of these filters with a
good...

Tube Anenomes by

hi,
I had a tank back in the 80`s that wasnt a reef tank (special lighting)
BUT--- I managed to keep a beautiful Purple tube anemone for years in it. It
seemed to thrive and do fine with the brine shrimp and clam pieces I fed it.
I want to start a new marine aquarium w/o the hi-tech lighting. I...
