Quiet yet effective skimmer by erik
I'm looking for recommendations regarding quiet protein skimmers. I have an Aqua C Remora Pro which isn't so bad but to have 2 of them in the living room will drive me nuts. Can anyone recommend one that is more quiet but still works well? Thanks, Erik

Modify your MaxiJet 1200 for more flow by Marc Levenson
My son's 29g needed more flow, and I've seen various modifications over the years. Rather than adding another powerhead, I thought I'd give this one a try. A member of DFWMAS told me how he did it, and it seemed like a good little DIY project. A hacksaw and a drill, plus 10 minutes of your time...

ASM Skimmer Question by Timcat
Those of you who have an ASM skimmer...have you modified it so the collection cup drains into some other container, or did you leave it alone and empty the cup manually? Tim

Food for a conch? by George Patterson
I've got a queen conch. Back when I bought it, I had an algae problem. I don't have algae anymore. I feed my fish a mix of things that includes clam and kelp. Is this sufficient for the conch, or do I need to be laying down soemthing else for it? George Patterson Drink is the curse of the land....

Poop is wrecking our Florida reefs by Jaime R-S
The real problem is that this is not an exception to the rule. This is the norm in wastewater treatment. For example, in the Florida Keys, people are obligated to install an Aerobic Treatment Unit that is supposed to bring BOD, N2, TSS and P to safe standards. The reality is that this systems,...

Poop is wrecking our Florida reefs by davejnz
Our reefs here have been in terrible shape for yrs now.My late Uncle has dived all over the Caribbean since the 70's.Most of the reefs that he explored in FL back then are dead now. In the 80's,Diadema sp.(urchins) were being taken off the reefs by man(scientists thought they were linked to some...

Need Oceanic Glass Canopy by Timcat
I apologize for posting this here, as it isn't reef related. Can anyone give me an online or mail-order resource for ordering a replacement glass canopy for a 90 gal Oceanic tank? I have searched to no avail. The LFS wants me to wait 6-8 weeks. I will if I must, but.... Tim

Anemone question by Mikey
Can anyone tell me if there are any anemones that will do well in an 80 gallon tank w/260 watts of light? Power compacts, 50/50 bulbs. Or is this simply not enough light?

what to do with overflow? by TekCat
I have a Quietflow 600 hang on overflow box... supposedly it should take care of 600GPh. Also I have pump that is pumping from sump to the tank, it is Dolphin DP 560. With 2' head loss the chart says it would output 460GPH. So far so good, but the overflow doesn't seem to take 460gph quite well,...

In tank sump by Thomas Bartkus
I am considering getting a standard (4' or 5' long) tank and devoting 1 foot of it as a sump by creating a dam with a glass sheet I glue into one side. The idea being the water will overflow off the surface into the sump section. I am toying with this idea because - I can enclose (hide!) the sump...

Does anyone have experience with the following hardware? by Timcat
For a 90 gallon tank, I am considering the following skimmers: Berlin Turbo Classic, Turboflotor 1000 multi, Precision Marine Bullet 1 or 2, and the ETSS Super Reef Devil. Are any of these inherently better in terms of "ease of use", durability, etc...of is there a better choice I've...
