When Good Damsels Go Bad (Film at 11) by
Teeb
ok.. seriously... it's a cute little yellow tail, too small to hurt me or
anything else in the tank, but it ATTACKED ME today! I had my hand in
pulling out bits of algae (with my two buckets of freshwater sitting handily
by of course). I had noticed yesterday while I was doing some other...

RO/DI Unit Installation problem by
Tim Gilder
I'm trying to install a 5 stage RO/DI unit that I bought from EBAY....the
instructions cover a basic kitchen install but don't touch on fish room
applications. There are 3 lines out that I'm a bit confused as to where
they go.
One goes to the reservoir tank....
One is the RO line out...
One is...

Sanitizing tank help (sorry it's long) by
John Guerriero
Hello all,
I take care of a system for a local doctor. A 54 Corner. Fish only with some
dead coral skeletons and some resin coral replicas on top of 1.5" of
Aragonite
gravel. The tank is Reef Ready, going to a sump with bioballs and drip tray
pad. Return is Rio 1400. I've already convinced him...

anemone @ the top - water change - arggg by
AC
Hi,
I need to do a water change in my 90 gallon tank and I don't have a sump.
The problem is that my anemone has made its way from the bottom of the
tank(under the halide) across the tank, wrapped itself around my large
leather than back across the tank, up my mountain of star polyps where it
sat...

Bubbles from my DSB by
Chauncey Gardener
A few weeks ago I moved an established FOWLR into a new 55g tank, and
put down about 5" of Southdown sand.
Before long I noticed bubbles under the surface of the sand, and now
it's giving off bubbles like crazy. This activity has increased as I
have increased my light. Now there are small...

Yellow Tangs. by
Richard Periut
I've noticed that these tangs are more or less cheap, in comparison with
other tangs. Is it that they are farm bred or cultivated?
Just curious.

Attack of the mantis by

Hiya guys
Well the tank is doing allot better since i added a second Fluval 404
canister filter (chemical filtration, and Mechanical in the second), the
algae is at last under control but it's proving to be hard work. In my bid
to increase filtration i added some more live rock which had been...

Crab eating crab by
Bob Parkins
I got my first shipment of Scarlet hermits and emerald crabs. I know they
will occasionally molt and have been told they will look like a dead crab,
so I have been keeping an eye out for this. I found one of my hermits on a
rock without a shell.... the back end looked long and translucent-like. ...

Peppermint shrimps... really "reef safe"? by
dasho
I've just found an old post on that topic and would like to add my
observations.
Lysmata wurdemanni (Peppermint shrimps) do prey upon Stomatella snails. at
night i used to have about 40 of these little algae grazers only on my front
glass (wonder how many 'round the tank), after introducing the...

NO-ICH? by
Steve
I have used it once it seemed to be quite effective and didn't harm
any of my small variety of hardy inverts. I will use it again if I
ever have need to. Personally I'd be a little worried about the
clown, but the tang should easily pull through.

Back after a long hiatus by
Mike Seltenright
I am preparing to set mt my 46 gal bow front. I need to scrape the
inside of the tank, looks like most of my equipment has survived 2+
years of storage. My 175w MH fired right up YAY! I'll go ahead and put
a new bulb in anyway, it's probably 9 months old.
My worst problem is going to be my Red Sea...

Super fast swimming bugs by
Steve \Srfmon\
I'm willing to bet that any night time bugs are okay for your tank. It
sounds like you are talking about mysis shrimp or maybe just some type of
pods. Both are good things to have (great detritus eaters).

Appropriate fish for 7g nano by
logan
I am researching what critters to put in a 7g nano and I am starting to
wonder if there is any fish that is really appropriate to put in it. 7g is
not that large and I don't want to put undue stress on any fish that I
introduce. I am only going to put one fish in the tank, so a loner fish...
