New Bulb by
Erik Soballe
Hey all,
I recently set up a 10 gallon planted tank(about 2 or 3 months ago)..
Anyways, all of the plants I put in there would shrivel up and die over the
course of about two weeks. Lurking on a lot of posts on this newsgroup, I
decided to buy a new bulb for my tank. This new bulb(the cheapest I...

-=Almazick=-
I need to solve the mystery. I had problems with my tank with algae and my
friend never had any algae at all. Here is some info about my tank. My tank
is about 65G planted tank. 144W (2 home depot T12 plant bulbs and 2 T8
regular bulbs). I had problems with hair and red algae. I tried everything

(almost) free plants - you pay shipping by
LeighMo
Continental U.S. only.
Haven't been around much lately -- RL has been crazy. My tanks, needless to
say, have gotten massively overgrown. I'm planning a huge pruning Friday
night, with clippings to be mailed out Saturday morning. Shipping will be $5
or $10, depending on where you live and how...

been away for a long time, tank design help by
Benthic
hello all,
Been a LOOOOOONNNNNGGG time since I've posted here. Well, I am embarrassed.
I used to be quite the "stuck up Plant tank fanatic" until I had an
opportunity to get a 125 gall reef ready tank with all the live rock and
bells and whistles. Guess what people?! over there in sal****er...

Seweryn
Hello all,
Can anyone name any mail order outfits in Australia which sell plants,
shrimp and/or fish to individuals (not wholesale)? I am having a troublesome
time finding any.
Cheers,

EHEIM diatom Filter by
Seweryn
Hello all,
I know that Eheim does not make one, but is it possible to buy a diatom bag
w/ powder from another brand and place it in the 2213 canister filter? Ever
since I added some top up sand (that has been sitting in my rinsing bucket
outside for a few weeks) to my tank, the water has been...

Got my Guppies by
Carl Collins
Got 2 male guppies and 3 females and the buggers are at it already ;-)
How many fry should I be expecting from 1 female does anyone know round
abouts?
I have pulled some of the plastic plants out to let them float which I hear
should give them a better chance of survival..
I have 2 red finned...

Care of a Madagascar Lace? by
Mike Stachowski
Howdy,
I bought some bulb plants for the my 55 heavily
planted tank and one of them seems to be a
Aponogeton madagascarensis, which I guess is
what I know as a Madagascar lace since the leaves
sure look like lace to me. g
The plant seems to be doing very well, having
8+ stems all with 4+ inch...

Gravel Vac Question by
rapdor
My 4' tank has been established for nearly 5 weeks now and has cycled
nicely. The water is superbly clear and the parameters AOK. But the plants
are poor, straggly things which dont seem to be growing roots properly,
dammit. The substrate is quite fine gravel. I believe my lighting is ample
and...

I have the floating plants and stuff but there has got to be more to help..
Could I maybe get some women's tights from the local shops to maybe conceal
a part of the tank off??

Pruning Limnophila by
Boris
I've always trimmed Limnophila from the top - but after months of trimming
them, they become kind of "spindley".
Should I trim from the bottom? That is, uproot them and cut them from the
bottom?
Cheer!

Hitchhikers with aponogeton bulbs by
Cichlidiot
I got a pack of 8 dried aponogeton bulbs from the pet store for my new
tank (I love the look of aponogeton, heh). Some oddities about this batch
of dried bulbs however. One bulb never sunk and was surrounded by fungus,
so it and the other floating one were removed. 4 of the remaining
sprouted, but...

I am in the process of setting up a website of planted aquaria related
things. I am currently working on a page that has a listing of tanks that
people have including the stats of them and a few pictures. If you want to
have your tank put up on this site it would be great if you could drop me
and...

experience with compact flash lighting by
E.Otter
I'm thinking of using a 55watt 21" long compact fluorescent light over my
29g (30L x 12wide x 18high ) tank.
The distance between the bottom of the light and the hood would be about 1
inche. The distance between the light and the water line would be 3 inches.
I would like to plant Java ferns,...

why not undergravel by
I've heard that undergravel fiters are bad for plants and bottom
feeders, but I haven't heard why.
I put an undergravel filter in my 55 gallon tank because I knew
that it would be a nightmare to put it in after setting it up.
I also have a charcoal filter with an intake tube and a reservoir
which...
