Low, LOW light options by
t
I have recently setup a 125 gal tank I'd had in storage for quite a while.
I never kept plants in it before. Somehow, over the years, the original 1
tube hood/light cover got ruined. I build a new, flip top out of plywood.
Have you seen the prices on 6' long high-output systems? I'd have to take...

Plants in Remote Areas by
About Dakota
Right now I live in Bismarck, North Dakota, for now, and I must admit
there isn't much of a market for live aquatic plants. I was wondering
of some good way to buy them long distance, and what shipping methods
would be best.
Thanks in advance.

Do many of you use RO water in your planted tanks, and if so are you adding

Something killing my SAEs by
Victor M. Martinez
Yesterday one of my mature SAE died. Just now I fished one out of the
tank. The rest are hiding in the large amazon sword. I did notice they
were "breathing" really fast lately, but I didn't think any of it because
all the other fish were acting normally. I just went back to check on them
and 2 of...

Flourite Alert for other beginners 8^) by
Dan Norgard
I just added Flourite to my 29 and 10 gallon freshwater...I learned from the
29 gallon that when Seachem says the Flourite might require rinsing you
should read it as 'flooding'. Rinsing just didn't cut it. The 29 now looks
like Mars during a sandstorm. I did the 10g by putting the Flourite in...

I've got 2 anubias, nana and barteri, and they are both being uprooted so
often, that they are looking rather ragged. They are both of...

Doing my planted-tank homework by
Arnim
Hello everyone. I am brand new to the newsgroup and do not (yet) have a
planted tank although I currently have several non-planted tanks. It
started a few years ago when my wife suggested my then three-year-old
daughter would like "a fish." She of course meant a goldfish in a bowl.
Being the...

Hi. In the quest for the my big lighting upgrade before I plunge into the

Coralife 65W 6700K compact fluorescents - advertised for the planted tank.
As hard as I've searched, I can't find any specs on this bulb...

Experiments with Peat Moss by

Plants for very hard water by
Bambi
Hi all,
I have a 75 gallon tank with very hard water
GH 200mg/l
KH 125mg/l
PH 8-8.5
I know this isnt exactly the ideal plant environment but was wondering if
you could recommend some hardier plants.
I have had some success with java ferns on Tufa rock and bogwood but they
tend to fade away and die...
