CO2 and KH by
IDzine01
I just read that CO2 can cause a drop in pH levels so buffers may
necessary. I already add buffers and my KH is still only 3DH. If I were
to buy a CO2 system, would I be putting my fish at risk for a pH crash?

Spring Resolution: Get Serious About my Plants by
John Sankey
"It never ceases to amaze me, the different opinions that pop up
out here on the net. I tend to agree entirely with Bill, and
haven't experienced any of the phenomena that John speaks of ...
started with some real lights ... 3.2 watts per gallon ... I was
able to grow a veritable tarzanian jungle...

Spring Resolution: Get Serious About my Plants by
IDzine01
Hi Guys.
I've always enjoyed aquatic plants in my aquariums but haven't really
ever taken it seriously. Aside from some crypts and java moss that have
been growing beautifully my other plants don't really do well. Even my
java ferns have browned over time.
Can you guys offer me any advice on how...

Liquid fertiliser for aquatic plants? by

This is an article at the Krib about PMDD - Poor Mans Dosing Drops - a home
brew of nutrients used in place of commercial fertilizers - easy to
manipulate to suit your particular tanks requirements, and a lot cheaper
than sticking to commercial...

Flourish Update - Thanks Richard! by
Koi-Lo
It's been several weeks now that I've started to use Seachem's Flourish
Excel. The black sooty and the black furry crud are gone. They stopped
spreading but did not die so I placed a clown pleco, a regular pleco and
several ottos in the tanks with the problem. In days they cleaned this...

methylene blue toxic to plants? (use of Furan 2 in planted tanks) by
LM
Hi,
I've looked for this info everywhere, and I'm getting mixed messages.
I'm hoping someone has experience with it to tell me the real effects..
I have a fish suspected of saddleback disease (columnaris). I am in
the process of removing the affected fish (2 gouramis) to the
quarantine tank, but...

Which plants should I use? by
Earl Wrangler
I'm starting a new 10Gal tank for Earl, my rope fish. I want to use
live plants. So should I just use the potted ones from the my local
garden center, where they are set in regular potting soil, have well
established roots and need washing? or do I go to a pet store and hope
they have non-potted...

How big are your stems (Amazon Swords) by
Bill Stock
My Amazon Sword (Rose) seems to be going all to stems. There must be at
least eight inches between the substrate and the start of the leaves.
There's not much in the way of new leaves, just the beanstalk syndrome. At
this rate the fish will be climbing out of the basement.
Could someone please...

Lighting Question by
George Pontis
kev wrote:
I've currently got 240w of 48" T12 lighting (3 shoplights) over a
55g. Considering the poor reflectors on the shoplights, will
changing them out to 2x55w Bright Kit from AHSupply.com give me the
equivalent lighting power or should I get 4x55w kit?
Thanks!

Low maintenance planted tank ... 48" bulbs x2 or x3 over 55G? by

In my quest to finally get my 55G planted tank up and running, I'm
going to shell out the cash and just buy the hood that maches my
All-Glass tank instead of making one. However, I'm not sure if I
should choose the twin tube (2 x 48" T8 tubes with electronic ballast)

Clown Loaches v.s. Water Sprite. by
Dr.
Hi,
Probably nothing to worry about...
Yesterday I transferred some Water Sprite from my Q-Tank-turned-planted tank
to my main tank.
The Loaches seem to find it quite tasty. Not bad for them? They surely get
plenty of other food, including some Discus pellets they really groove on,
algae wafers,...
